I find people put too much focus on the technical aspects of visuals. Really, when it comes down to it, the style of the visuals is more important than the polygon count of Eddie’s finger, and Brütal Legend’s style permeates that video like the smell of wet awesome on an oil rag, or something.

Yeah, I’d agree that Tim’s games are generally difficult to adequately capture in a trailer; some of the humour and whatnot was hinted at, but clearly a decision was made to focus on the action — presumably as that’d appeal to the types watching Spike.

I’m also sure the game will visually get tidied up as it grows closer to release. While the action looks good, when it zooms close in some cracks do appear. Still, Psychonauts came on quite a bit in the visual department between early screenshots and actual final version; it went from looking ‘pretty good’ to ‘gorgeous’ IMO. I doubt Double Fine will disappoint. :)

The new trailer itself seems just so-so, maybe this game is one for playing not for watching. Like Tim’s games before.

Nice Brütal (!) fansite you’ve got going here, Ryan (Thrik, also, I believe?).

I had to watch the video twice just to make sure that really happened, Jack Black’s flamethrower gushing fire, Tim being rolled on stage in a chariot (or bring-out-your-dead horse-cart, possibly) and then the whole sacrificial scene. Mindblowing.
