Tim Schafer interviewed by Jace Hall
News posted by Ryan on April 17th, 2009 at 3:18pm GMTThe official Brutal Legend site has just updated with word of a video interview with Tim Schafer. Unfortunately the video doesn’t seem to be working at the moment, although there may be some crazy region locking or something going on.
Whatever the case, the video supposedly features a general chat with Tim about four-and-a-half minutes in, discussing things such as programming in the Amiga days. But more interestingly, Jace claims to “take a first look at the newest [Brutal Legend] build”, which might mean we get to see some brand new gameplay footage.
By all means try the video and leave a comment if you can get it to play!
Update
[April 18th, 2009 at 1:52pm GMT] If you’re outside the US, the video probably won’t play as it is indeed region locked. I got in touch with Jace and he recommends using UltraSurf, which I successfully did. It takes seconds to install and works out the box, routing your web traffic through one of their US servers — give it a go if you want to see the footage.
Update #2
[April 19th, 2009 at 6:47pm GMT+1] I’ve taken screenshots of the new things shown in the video, such as a bum-headed creature and the wall of amps. The quality is pretty much the best I can get as there really isn’t much shown, and whatever there is was taken with a handheld camcorder. Still, check them out.
Hmm.. I don’t seem to be able to watch it either. øv :(
All us poor non-americans can watch this pre-view’ish little video (26 seconds)

:b
It’s only available for Americans.
Praise ye proxy servers, I’ll try to get a version of this and upload it to YouTube or something, after 10ish.
Ah, thought it’d be something like that. Bah.
Looks good though Andy, looks like it does indeed have gameplay footage — probably the same segment they showed to people at GDC.
Nothing new that hasn’t been seen in the gameplay video. It shows the wall of amps, which is the only thing new in it. Which looks like the concept version of it.
Wow, nice update! The program just worked in a matter of seconds =D
Good to hear. :) I’ve added screenshots for those who don’t want to mess around trying to get the video to work.
I was excited to see some more gameplay footage, we actually got to see a bit more combat, which looked great.
does ultrasurf work for mac? if so, can anyone post the link for it? i’ve been trying to find it, but haven’t had any luck with it…
Looks great!Can’t wait this game!!!
Am I the only one that is peeved in the fact that the cloaca has the name 20090419184113 ?
seeing that we who dont live in the US cant see the gameplay video, can anyone who does try to film a piece of it and put it up on youtube or something like that?
and if not, is there any other GAMEPLAY video around the web? cause i cant find any =S
thanks in advance!!
Since I can’t figure out how to do that Lord Lui I will tell you what was in there. What was in the video of Brutal Legend was a druid nun getting sliced up and the guitar to have lighting come down on a characters you pointed the guitar at. There was walking to what Jack calls an anus which Tim corrects him in saying it is a Cloaca not an anus. Though as far as I know there isn’t any other examples. Sorry about that.
hey man, thats good enough for me! sounds awesome!! although one last dumb question, how much gameplay is there in the video exactly?
anywaaaays, october 13th cant come soon enough!!
thanks again!
There’s probably literally about five seconds in total. There really isn’t anything else other than what’s shown in the screenshots. :/
ohh… ok… alrighty then, thanks anyways!
hope we get to see more gameplay videos soon! =)
