World record for air guitaring set at Download Festival
News posted by Ryan on June 15th, 2009 at 1:11pm GMT+1If you were at Download Festival in the UK this weekend, you may have witnessed the most extreme example of air guitaring ever. Dressed in Brutal Legend t-shirts, an insane 440 people gathered around Electronic Arts’ trailer and played the air guitar to Motörhead’s ‘Ace of Spades’ — not only breaking several barriers of sheer awesomeness, but also a Guinness world record.
Kerrang FM’s Christian Stevenson had the following to say:
“That was one of the raddest jams I’ve ever been involved with. The crowd played their air guitars better than Eddie Van Halen! Then they destroyed ’em good and proper. Who cares, right? They can go to the air guitar shop and get another one. Sick to the infinity of sickness! I want a crowd like that at every gig I’m at. Awesometacular — air guitar world records rule!”
With the previous world record of 318 people in tatters, those still feeling up to the exhausting art of the air guitar were able to go on-stage and play against one of the festival’s bands The Blackout, with one of the real-life Tenacious D guitars up for grabs.
I think it’s fair to say that EA knows how to market this game.
HAHAHA LOL LOL LOL!! That is insanely awesome! why weren’t I there?! Breaking a world record with nearly 500 people wearing Brutal Legend t-shirts?
Spot on, EA ! :D
Friggin’ AWESOME!
I cant belive EA is pushing this game so much!
No words can describe how perfect that is. And so many of them seem like genuine metal-heads.
I can only say: HELL YEAH
Whooo, I’m a record holder now :P well with 439 other people…
i was there and am in the 1st pic and believe me it rocked all weekend and the feeling of being 1 out of 440 people breaking a record is absolutely brilliant
