Tim Schafer talks through almost 17 minutes of Brutal Legend

intro_commentary_by_tim_schaferDesperate to see some actual in-game Brutal Legend footage? You might want to check out the two new videos added to the ‘Videos’ section. Featuring full commentary by Brutal Legend designer Tim Schafer, almost 17 minutes of the game’s earliest moments are revealed in full.

It’s worth noting that Schafer’s voice drowns out most of the in-game sound and thus significantly takes away from the comedic moments, so this video may not be your cup if tea if you want to experience all those early surprises properly and unspoilt.

One of the highlights for me was seeing clearly how the guitar solos are performanced in a totally Guitar Hero-like fashion. If you’re on the fence about Brutal Legend, you’d be mad to not want it after this!

Words cannot describe the amount of win that these videos contain. The opening battle showed the great gameplay of the game and Jack’s lines are hilarious. The combo of the axe and the ‘axe’ are great and I love the overheating thing to prevent spamming attacks. The character team-up attacks are a wonderful enlightenment and I am curious to see the medley of possible combos. The exposure to the solos looks awesome and fun to use in the game along with the crunching power of the Deuce. The battles so far look balanced and fun and of course… how could I not mention the background music with the game opening up with some Black Sabbath. Tim Shafer, I applaud you sir and cannot wait to own and enjoy this masterpiece of technology.
